To face reality, there are many people out there who are found guilty of holding on to many different things from the past that tend to hurt, confuse, annoy or anger them. Surprisingly, some people are able to hold onto certain things for long and don’t easily let them go. Not only is this unhealthy, but mesmerizing. Every 9th March celebrates Get It Over Day. Despite the fact that every human has his/her own uniqueness and weaknesses, we are encouraged this day to let go. Yes! Our temperaments differ, but we need to try and let go.
For some people, it can be very difficult to get rid of negative feelings and over time, these feelings may grow and turn into a problem as they create bitterness.
This day reminds us that we need to make life a little lighter and participate in a slightly newer ‘holiday’ – GET IT OVER DAY.
This day is meant for us to do exactly what it says: getting it over what is holding people back.
History of Get Over IT Day
Purposely, this day was created out of the need that most people have to let go of hurt and pain, especially in breakups of a romantic relationship.
This holiday was created by Jeff Goldblatt. It was inspired by a time when he was struggling to get over the hurt from an ex-girlfriend. Jeff knew that he just needed to get over her. However, it was very difficult for him.
Inspired by the motivation to help himself and others who are going through similar struggles, he was able to identify people who had difficulty in letting go. Gradually, the day began and took off. This day was strategically spaced between a holiday devoted to love (St. Valentine’s day – 14th Feb), and one of all about fun and joking around (April Fool’s Day – 1st April). I guess this is the perfect time to try to find inner healing and move forward with all of the promising things that the future has to offer.
People have been celebrating Get Over It Day for more than a decade now in a variety of ways that help them to overcome what has been holding them back
Dear friends. Let’s celebrate this day.
Let go
Let go
Let go
We can do this! Let’s do this together!
