As has always been the response, “I tried, I did what I can do.”
I honestly do agree that oftentimes our challenges become overwhelming to the extent that we sometimes lament, “beat” ourselves and promise to “wake up” from our situations but still find ourselves in the same place because we claim we tried.
It is not bad to say “I tried,” but can we stop marking time and match? Can we move from “I tried” to “I can, I will do it?” The brain produces what it is fed on. So if the brain is fed with positivistic thoughts, it will produce positive thoughts that can be translated into good action.
Same thing as when fed with negativistic thoughts. It is amazing when people give up easily and claim they have tried. One question I normally throw at these people is, “have you tried enough?” “What did you do?” “For how long?” “To what extent?”
Fr. Amponsah Afriyie once made me understand that, sometimes to be able to overcome some situations in our lives, we will need to find our own way out and not necessarily what we have been told, but what we have discovered.
Do we wail in pains? Or we find ways to sustain these pains and still be who we are? Of what benefit and gain would it be when we wallow in pain and end up as failures?
To be practical, assuming your mum is suffering from abuse, and what you really want is to see her happy one day; you wish you can take her out of this pain, caring for her and giving her the best. I believe you would like to do everything possible to achieve your goal. But when you wallow in pain without any action, and you allow yourself to be filled with so much sorrow and pity for her, do you think you would be able to achieve your goal? No, not at all. Why? You become a shadow of yourself.
Enough of the “I tried to make it work,” enough of “I tried to be the best of myself during those days,” enough of the excuses of “I tried.” Focus on “I can and I will do it!” I am a living testimony. I’ve been through it and I will continue to try harder.
So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’ (Luke 17:10). The Holy scriptures even encourage us to do more. Are you ready to do it? Are you ready to take up that mantle for the betterment of all, especially in making your future the focus? There are role models and mentors who have made it in life, yet many of them claim they haven’t done much, how much more you and me who are yet to accomplish our tasks? Don’t give up!
I just want to encourage you, you can do it so long as you set your mind to it. It all starts from you. Also, remember you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Make up your mind and tell Him you need Him to be able to Do it. The joy of the Lord is your strength!!
Shout a big “I CAN DO IT” as you read this and let’s do it.
Stay blessed.

I really love this. Brings to mind something someone mentioned to me about not giving up. In Ephesians 6:13, Apostle Paul tells us to do whatever we can to stand and after everything, to stand. Meaning, after doing everything, after trying all you could have tried, you still need to stand, which simply equates to not giving up; doing whatever it takes to not give up. When you don’t give up, you’ll surely reach the end and achieve your goal. God bless you ma🙏🏾
